I once heard a definition of infinity as this: there is a steel sphere the size of the sun, and once every thousand years a butterfly flies past it, momentarily brushing its wings on its surface. Infinity is the time it takes for the steel ball to be finally ground down.
The person who said this has obviously never sat through half an hour of Emmerdale.
