Nice things, happy thoughts...

It was a criticism recently levelled at this blog that the tone was a bit “ranty”. Which is fair enough, given that it seems to be the human condition (unless you’re a Christian or don’t get out much) that it’s generally easier to describe the things you don’t like than the things you do.

So, by way of counterpoint, here’s a list of things I really like, not in priority order (apart from the first one):

- My luverlee faaahmily
- Very strong coffee
- The smell of a bookshop
- Heinz Tomato Soup (with white bread dunkers)
- Viz
- Computer games
- Guinness
- Linen shirts
- Morrissey
- Snowboarding
- London
- Stephen Fry
- Cheesy pasta
- Messing around with power tools
- Charles Dickens
- Basketball trainers
- Alan Partridge

There are probably tumps more, but these immediately spring to mind.

Happy now Dan? ;)

Can't believe you like basketball trainers.

And while I see cheesy pasta on the list, cheese itself is not.

When you say that you "really like...Stephen Fry" could you clarify?

Hmm, I can see why this might be construed as ambiguous. See below for clarification...

Stephen Fry is a national treasure and oozes old-fashioned quintessential tweediness from every pore. He effortlessly straddles the often dialectically opposing worlds of ‘The Arts’ and comedy and is able to contribute to both with Technolor wordsmithery. Coupling outrageous intelligence with self-effacing modesty, he’s more English than village green cricket on a summer afternoon and is the Grand Vizier of cultural geekiness, clad in robes of tweed.

Oh, and I like the way he says "Mnyah".

As for basketball trainers – there will remain some vestiges of studenthood until my dying day.
